Carol June Hering, 82, of Winder, Georgia, died Thursday morning, June 27, 2019, following a 4-month battle with cancer.
Born in Canandaigua, NY to James Brown Fries and Bertha Marie Mertens Fries, Carol worked for a number of years as a long-distance telephone operator, and in computer services for the State of Georgia. Carol was a long-time resident of Newark, NY, Doraville, GA, and Winder, GA. In recent years she volunteered her time at a number of charities and mercy ministries.
Carol professed faith in Jesus Christ, and loved God. She will be remembered by family and friends for her every-present smile, her kindness and generosity, and her unconditional love for everyone she met.
Carol was married for 49 years to James Paul Hering, who preceded her in death in 2004. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her sisters June Fries (in infancy) and Jane Fries (in childhood), and an infant granddaughter.
Carol Hering is survived by her brother Paul Fries of Marion NY, her children Linda Patterson of Newborn GA, James (Kerstin) Hering of Hodges SC, Steven (Carma) Hering of Lawrenceville, GA, Mark (Karen) Hering of Columbia SC, and 16 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 3:00 PM. at Hope Baptist Church in Winder, GA with Rev. Steven Smallwood officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hope Baptist Church benevolence fund.
