Cody Grayson Brantley, incredibly loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandson and servant of the Lord, entered into eternal life June 4, 2014. Cody was born on December 19, 1984 in Athens, Georgia and had resided in Winder all his life. Cody was just 29 years young. He was the oldest of two exceptional sons of Bernard and Susan Brantley. He graduated Winder-Barrow high school in 2003 and attended college at Piedmont and Truett McConnell. Cody absolutely loved being on a basketball court and played all his life. To say he was a North Carolina Tar Heel fan is a huge understatement. It was in college he earned the nickname "white chocolate." Cody was an entrepreneur and started his own landscape and lawn care business at the age of 19. He named his company after his grandfather Ike, "Papa."
Cody met the love of his life, Amie Marquardt, in 2009. They met at their best friends' wedding where Cody was the best man and Amie was a bridesmaid. Their courtship was a fairytale because Cody is a perfect gentleman. On April 16, 2011, Cody and Amie married in Georgia and started their life together. Amie always said she would never trade her marriage with Cody for anyone else's because she felt if it was this incredible at just 3 years, then she was so excited for their 50th year of marriage. On December 7, 2013, Cody and Amie welcomed their first and only child, Ayla Reese, into their family. Cody absolutely LOVED being around people. He believed his best investment was in people. Cody found his true purpose in life fulfilled in serving others. He believed in personal growth and development because he understood he couldn't give something to others that he didn't himself possess. Cody personally mentored many men and women of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds on living a life of significance. His passion was in developing people to become the best they could be to lead a life to impact others. He felt his life was truly blessed and believed he had a responsibility to pay it forward and applied "to whom much is given, much is required" to every area of his life.
