Deputy Sheriff Stefan Kyle Sarpy, 28, of Winder, a dedicated and compassionate public servant, passed away on May 18, 2025.
Stefan was born on August 20, 1996, at the Royal Air Force Base in the United Kingdom. Stefan was a gentle soul known for his unwavering kindness and generosity towards others.
Stefan's commitment to serving his community was evident in his role as a Master Deputy Sheriff with the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department. His profound ability to deescalate tense situations made him an invaluable asset to the department, earning him the respect and admiration of both colleagues and the community he served. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Ft. Hayes State University, following his graduation from Fountain Ft. Carson High School in 2015.
Stefan had a fun-loving spirit that brought joy to those around him. He enjoyed playing games, particularly Monopoly, where his competitive nature brought laughter amongst friends and family.
Stefan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Virginia Barrigar, and Edward T. Sarpy, Jr.
Stefan is survived by his beloved wife, Jazzmyn Sarpy of Winder; his parents, Brian Sarpy and Rebecca Sarpy of Loganville; his siblings, Shane (Sarah) Sarpy of Grayson, Scott (Katrina) Sarpy of Statham, and Skyler Sarpy of Loganville; and his grandmother, Martha H. Sarpy of Byron. He was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews: Elise, Colin, Sutton, Sawyer, and Sienna Sarpy. Additionally, he is survived by his loyal dogs, Zanthus Arthur Sarpy and Jasper Ace Sarpy, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and a host of extended family and friends who will remember him fondly.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in the Chapel of Maddox-Carter Memorial Home with honors provided by the Gwinnett County Sheriff Department's Honor Guard. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the service hour at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home.
Flowers are accepted for the celebration of life for Stefan.
