Dr. Joseph Leo Magrath Jr., age 95, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Gateway Gardens Assisted Living.
Dr. Magrath served the United States faithfully in the Navy where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree and served as a surgeon while in the military. He continued his practice as a surgeon throughout his career and retired with Cigna Healthcare.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Leo Magrath Sr. and Frances Eveler Magrath.
Dr. Magrath is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Dorothy M. Hayes Magrath; children, Joseph (Jennifer) Mikulka of Las Vegas, NV, Eve (Steve) Mimiaga of Ventura, CA, and Jill (Jack) Taylor of Monroe; and five grandchildren, Sam Mimiaga, Megan Mimiaga, Katie Taylor, Blake Taylor, Nathan Taylor.
Per the request of Dr. Magrath, no formal services will take place.
Maddox Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
