Gladys M. Dickerson Gentry, 89, of Auburn, Georgia peacefully passed away at home under hospice care. She was preceded in death by parents, Edgar J. and Daisy (Strome) Moyer, first husband Meredith W. Dickerson, second husband Euell B. Gentry, and sister Vivian (Harlan) Kelly.
Gladys is survived by her son Edgar W. (Barbara) Dickerson of Auburn, Georgia, and was Mamaw to three grandchildren, Michael W. Dickerson of Valley, Alabama, Penelope D. (Lee) Tench of Statham, Georgia and Hollie F. (Roman) Carson of West Hollywood, California. She is also survived by brother Edgar M. (Doris) Moyers of Fishers, Indiana.
In her earlier years she worked on Air Force bases, starting out as a clerk and working up to Base Commander's secretary. Later she was a much loved substitute teacher at Winder –Barrow High School. Gladys made friends easily and loved everyone she met. Her generous spirit and happy chuckle will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Athens Community Council on Ageing (ACCA), 135 Hoyt St., Athens, Georgia 30601.
A Funeral Service was held Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 3:00 P. M. from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth W. Andrews officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
