Mr. Horace B. Powell, Sr., age 100, of Winder, Georgia passed away April 16, 2013 at his residence. A native of Hartwell, Georgia he was a son of the late Isham T. and Ida Gaines Powell. A former resident of DeKalb County, Mr. Powell had resided in Barrow County since 1967. Mr. Powell was retired from the Gwinnett County School System where he was an educator and was a graduate of The University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture. He was a member of Nazareth United Methodist Church.
Surviving are Wife, Louie Dean Powell of Winder, Son, Ben Powell of Winder, and Sister, Geri DeLoatche of Durham, North Carolina.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P. M., Saturday, April 20, 2013 from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Shirley officiating. The Family will receive friends Friday, April 19, 2013 from 6-8 P. M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Nazareth United Methodist Church Cemetery.
