Mr. Jack Lester Cook, age 90, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Cook was a native of Barrow County. He was a lifelong member of Stoney Creek Methodist Worship Center and retired from the Barrow County Road Department. Jack was an avid outdoorsman that loved fishing and hunting, and often prepared meals for his family and friends with the fish he caught or rabbits, racoons, or turtles that he caught. With his great personality, Jack was known for being a jokester that enjoyed bringing humor to others.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Nina Imogene "Jean" Cook; son, Ernest Jack Cook; parents, Ernest E. Cook and Johnnie Lou Cook; and siblings, Montine Hulsey, Doc Cook, Maxine Skinner, Frances Clack, Johnnie Ruth Akins, Phoebe Dillashaw, Ann Mount, and Harry Cook.
Mr. Cook is survived by his children; Cheryl (David) Seagraves of Winder, Tracy (Jennifer) Cook of Watkinsville, Wendy Overstreet (Jeff Carr) of Winder, and Scott (Angie) Cook of Franklin, NC; six grandchildren, Tiffany Daniel, Heather Wright, Ryan Overstreet, Patrick Overstreet, Reed Overstreet, and Aaron Cook; eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Stoney Creek Methodist Worship Center with Rev. James Mooneyhan officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the service hour at the church.
