Mr. Jim Griffeth, age 91, of Winder, Georgia died January 20, 2012. A Native of Barrow County, he was the son of the late James Wiley Griffeth, Sr. and Grace Graddick Griffeth. Mr. Griffeth graduated from the Georgia School of Technology with a degree in Industrial Management. Accomplishments and memberships at Georgia Tech include, The Anak Society, vice-president of Delta Tan, Delta Student Council, Who's Who American Colleges, 0k0 Senior average in upper 57% of class(Phi Kappa Phi), president's Gold T, honor roll three years with highest average in Industrial Management, Senior Basketball manager 1942, Junior Basketball Manager 1940-1941, Senior Baseball Manager 1941-1942, Junior Baseball Manager, 1940-1941,President Delta-D-Delta, vice president 1941, Secretary 1940-1941, Yellow Jacket Club, Booster Club Secretary, Inter Fraternity Council, 1940-1941, 1941-1942, International Relations Club 1940-1942, Industrial Management Society, "Y" council, 2nd Lieutenant Advanced Military, Bulldog Club declined invitation, Pu Delta Epsilom declined invitation, Blue Print1940-1941, 1941-1942 editorial staff, Yellow Jacket Advisory Board, 1940-1942, Highest average in 125 Students Industrial Management Course. Mr. Griffeth served as a Major in the U. S. Air Force for four years during World War II, was a partner in Outzs Chevrolet Company from 1947-1958, Owner of Barrow 5-10-25 Store from 1948 – 1958, President and Founder of Flowers by Jim 1973-1998, member of First Christian Church since 1984, Past Deacon & Treasurer of First Presbyterian Church, member of First Methodist Church for 29 years, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Administrative Board. Mr. Griffeth was a past vice-president of the Lion's Club and Kiwanis Club, was a director of the Chamber of Commerce, served as Commander of American Legion Post #53, served as President of Winder Touchdown club, he served as a commander of the ninth District American Legion and served on The Board of Education for seven years.

Surviving are Wife, Betty C. Griffeth of Winder, Georgia, Children, Alison Bruss of Monroe, Georgia, Debi Jordan of Winder, Georgia, Jimmy Griffeth of Winder, Georgia and Steve Griffeth of Roswell, Georgia, Sister, Jerrye Short of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Seven Grandchildren and Eight Great Grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11:00 A. M. at the Winder First Christian Church with Rev. Jim Brooks officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 P. M. at the funeral home.
