Maria "Mary" Anna Gilreath

Maria “Mary” Anna Gilreath, age 99, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 11, 2025. Born in Linz, Austria on May 24, 1926, Mary lived a life rich with family, heritage, and enduring love. As a war bride, she journeyed to the United States in the 1950s, where she built a life filled with resilience, love and devotion to those she held dear.

She was best known for her deep devotion to her family and her unwavering joy in being a grandmother—truly her greatest passion.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Josef and Maria Steiner. She is survived by her loving son, Perry Gilreath, and daughter-in-law Phyllis of Winder, Georgia; her cherished sister, Gerti Kreutzer, and brother-in-law, Helmut Kreutzer of Bischofshofen, Austria. Her legacy also lives on in her grandchildren: Josef and Lindsay Gilreath of Clermont, and Robert Gilreath of Pendergrass, who were her pride and joy.

A Private Funeral was held in the Chapel at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home. Minister Barry McDaniel conducted the service. Mary was laid to rest at Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Her warmth, grace, and the gentle wisdom she offered those around her will be deeply missed yet remembered with love and gratitude by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
