Mr. Carl Eugene Skinner

Mr. Carl "Gene" Eugene Skinner, age 87, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Carl was born on October 11, 1938. He was the son of the late Harvey and Alabee Perry Skinner. Carl retired from General Motors in Doraville, Georgia with 30 years of dedicated service. He was ordained as a deacon at 21 years of age and was always active in his church. Carl was a dedicated member of Winder First Baptist Church. He loved serving on various mission trips.

Carl was devoted to his family and especially loved his grandchildren. He will be remembered best as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Skinner was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Larry (Vivian) Skinner, Douglas (Cathy) Skinner, and Neil (Elaine) Skinner.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen Pope Skinner; children, Ricky Skinner of Lawrenceburg, TN and Teresa (Keith) Drake of Winder, GA; grandchildren, Brittany Canup of Auburn, GA, Michael (Val) of VA, Daniel (Mandy) Ellis of VA, and Christina of VA; great-grandchildren, Jesse Canup of Auburn, James Skinner, Rozlyn, Ramona, and Abigail all of Virginia.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 29, 2025 in the Chapel of Maddox-Carter Memorial Home with Rev. Irby Stanley officiating. Burial will follow the service at 1:30 PM on Monday at North Atlanta Memorial Park, 5188 Winters Chapel Rd, Dunwoody, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home.
