Mr. Cecil Wayne Youngblood, age 77, of Winder, passed away at his favorite place, Lake Lanier, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, doing what he loves the most, going fishing.
Mr. Youngblood is preceded in death by his parents; O.C. Youngblood and Madeline Vaughn; wife, Ruby Dean Youngblood; brother, Lawrence Youngblood; sister, Ruth Palmour; sister, Dianne Sterling; and grandson, Gabe Youngblood
Mr. Youngblood is survived by his children, Dennis (Betsy) Youngblood of Commerce, David (Mary Ann) Youngblood of Buford, and Donna (Chris) Pickens of Pendergrass; grandchildren, Taylor (Shelby) Youngblood, Seth (Meredith) Pickens, Garrison (Kaylie) Pickens, Madelyn Youngblood, Caroline Youngblood, Amelia Youngblood, great-grandson, Conrad Pickens, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Youngblood, the fishing legend, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. To those who knew him, Cecil was larger than life, strong as an ox and tough as nails. He shared a deep and everlasting love with his wife, Ruby Dean. Since her passing in 2022, he carried her memory closely in his heart and often spoke about the day he would see her again in heaven.
Growing up, he was a hero to his children- an athletic and devoted dad who coached his sons and daughter in sports and taught them perseverance, grit, and loyalty.
To many, he was known as a fishing legend. Fishing was not just a hobby- it was his passion. He loved the water and the thrill of the catch, and if he could have, he would have fished every single day. Few people could catch fish the way he did, often reeling in massive ones with skill and patience that came from a lifetime of experience.
Above all else, he was immensely proud of his family. He loved talking about his children and grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to show their pictures to anyone willing to look. His family was his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
He leaves behind a family who loved and admired him deeply and who will carry his strength, stories, and legacy with them always.
We find comfort in knowing he is now reunited with the love of his life.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026 in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home with Pastor Taylor Youngblood officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at Maddox Memorial Home.
