Mr. Don Jay Newton, age 70, of Statham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at his residence. 

He was born on August 7, 1955 to the late H.B. Newton and Rebecca Smith Newton.

Throughout his professional life, Don excelled as a welder and diesel mechanic, earning a reputation as a "master of all trades." His expertise and tireless work ethic were evident in every project he undertook. Additionally, his talents extended beyond mechanics; he was also a gifted woodworker, creating pieces that reflected his creativity and craftsmanship.

In his leisure time, Don found joy riding his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycles. An avid motorcyclist, he embraced the open road, often sharing stories of his adventures with family and friends. He was a kind-hearted individual who truly loved people. His warm personality allowed him to connect with those around him effortlessly, making friends wherever he went. His family will remember him not just for his skills, but for the generosity and kindness he displayed every day.

He is survived by his daughters, Ashley Newton Huff of Nicholson and Jessica Newton (Randolph Leighton) of Winder; siblings, Scott Newton of Winder, Vikki Newton (Ray) Mobley of Monroe, and Sandy Court of Winder; six grandchildren, Cameron Huff, Logan Huff, Tyler Huff, Layla Parham, Emory Leighton, and Walker Leighton; one great-grandchild, Blakeleigh Huff; his beloved significant other, Laurie Bales of Buford; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Maddox Memorial Home. 

Flowers are accepted for the visitation of Mr. Newton. 

Maddox Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
