Mr. Douglas Curlin, age 68, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Hugh Douglas Curlin was born 12/05/1956 in San Antoino Tx. He was preceded by his father James W Curlin Sr, mother Sara Jo Curlin (nee Crowe) a brother Richard T Curlin.
He is survived by a brother James W Curlin Jr and sister-in-law Patricia Curlin of Fort Worth Tx. He has 8 nieces and nephews that are spread across the country along with several cousins in the Winder area that he was close to.
Doug, as he was known as, graduated from Marion Arkansas High School where he was a member of the national honor society and was co-valedictorian. He attended the University of Arkansas and was a graduate of Memphis St University where he earned his accounting degree. He then went on to become a CPA, working several jobs before working on Wall Street traveling the world for his company. He freelanced for other companies in New York City such as Simon and Schuster Publishing. Douglas battled cancer moving to Winder to live with his mother Sara.
Douglas was involved in Little Theatre acting in plays such as Inherit the Wind, and Bus Stop among others. He also wrote a continuous blog where he wrote about an imaginary country family. Doug, was reading at adult levels at the age of 4 years old was tested at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln Ne. He was a voracious reader and loved the television program Jeopardy, trying out for and winning all 3 tryouts, but unfortunately was never selected. Just like his mother he loved country music.
Per the request of Mr. Curlin, a service will be held at a later date. A private burial will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Maddox-Carter Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
