Mr. Frankie Randall Dunagan, age 85, a respected member of the Winder community, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Dunagan built a distinguished career across several industries. He was employed with Rohr Aircraft for 18 years. He later continued his professional journey with Scientific Atlanta, where he dedicated 25 years of service.
Frankie also contributed to his community through public service. He served 5 years with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Department, protecting and serving the community with honor. In addition, he proudly served his country for 7 years in the National Guard.
His devotion to civic leadership was evident through his 18 years of service on the Winder City Council. During this time, Mr. Dunagan played an active role in shaping the growth and well-being of the city he loved, working tirelessly to support its residents and future.
Mr. Dunagan faithfully served and retired as a funeral assistant at Smith Funeral Home for 15 years. His work in funeral service reflected his deep care for people and his desire to make a meaningful difference in his community. He was a member of First Christian Church of Winder.
Frankie was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy; parents, Clarence and Mozelle Austin Dunagan; and a special maternal grandmother, Georgia Austin.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Linda Dunagan of Winder; daughter, Yvonne (Robb) Stepp of Winder; sister, Phyllis (Pete) Shockley; grandchildren, Megan Vance, Ann Marie (Joe) Morris, Hannah Stepp (Austin Holbrook); and great-grandchildren, Nora Morris, Emberlyn Holbrook, Robby Vance.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026 in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home with Rev. John Burchfield officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the service hour at Maddox Memorial Home. A private burial will be held at Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Flowers are accepted for the funeral service of Mr. Dunagan.
