Mr. James Arthur Swafford

Mr. James Arthur Swafford, age 77, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Swafford was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Carl. He retired from the Gwinnett County School System.  

Arthur was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Brian Swafford; parents, J.R. and Bertha Faye Christopher Swafford; and sister, Brenda Joyce Bagley.

Mr. Swafford is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra Patterson Swafford of Jefferson; children, Melissa (Robby) Youngblood of Auburn, Mike (Noel) Swafford of Jefferson, and Doug (Jennifer) Swafford of Hoschton; thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. 

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home with Rev. Doug Swafford officiating. Burial will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Maddox Memorial Home. 

Flowers are accepted or donations can be made in memory of Mr. Swafford to Calvary Baptist Church at 1080 Atlanta Highway Auburn, Georgia 30011.
