Obituary

Mr. John "Kip" Elwin Light III, age 71, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. Light served the United States faithfully in the Navy; he worked for eighteen years as a computer programmer then he found his true professional love as a truck driver later in his career. Kip was an avid gamer; he enjoyed spending his time chatting with his online friends. Kip built a large online community on various platforms. He was also very active in an online M.S. support group and was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan. Kip will be remembered best for his larger-than-life personality and humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elwin Light II and Beverly Ann Deitrick Light; and brother, Christopher Wayne Light.

Kip is survived by his sons, Jason (Nicole) Light of Winder and Jeremy Light of Augusta; brother, Phillip Light of Grayson; five grandchildren, Justin Light of Dawsonville, Brennan Light of CO, Aidan Mossman of Norcross, Zach Light of Winder, and Alexander Light of Melbourne, FL; and two great-grandchildren, Sarinna and Lennox Mossman.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Georgia National Cemetery with military honors rendered. Inurnment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery Columbarium.

Maddox Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
