Mr. Kenneth Michael Potter

Mr. Kenneth Michael "Mike" Potter, age 70, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. Potter was a resident of Barrow County for most of his life. He was a longtime member of Nazareth United Methodist Church. Mike was a 1973 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School and a 1977 graduate of the University of Georgia where he received a Bachelors of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude. He enjoyed spending his time at Brad Akins YMCA where he was an active member.

In his high school and college days, he was employed by Flowers by Jim and also worked for Cadillac Plastic in the marketing division from 1981-1989. His most successful achievement was receiving his certificate of baptism by Rev. Hugh Shirley on October 5, 2012 at Nazareth United Methodist Church.

Mr. Potter was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth DeFoy Potter.

He is survived by his mother, Laura Jean Hardegree Potter of Winder; sons, Forrest (Caroline) Hek Potter of Chesapeake, VA and Christian Sanford Potter of Chesterfield, VA; siblings, Philip DeFoy (Caroline) Potter of Marshall, NC and Gina (Mike) McDonald of Winder; one grandchild, Wesley Potter, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, from 12:00 PM until the service hour at Maddox Memorial Home.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Potter respectfully request donations be made to the Brad Akins YMCA at 50 Brad Akins Dr, Winder, GA 30680.
