Obituary

Mr. Larry James Carter, age 82, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Carter was affectionately known as NAPA Larry due to his forty plus years of service to NAPA Auto Parts in Winder and Lawrenceville. Larry was a kind and caring man who lived his life with a servant’s heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and found great joy in helping others whenever he could. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially loved working on cars.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Greeson Carter; daughter, Laurie Beth Carter; brother, Jimmy Carter; and his parents.

He is survived by his grandchild, Talisa Reece (Billy Bevard); great-grandchildren, R.J. Bevard and Lilliana Reece; and sisters, Carol and Elaine Carter.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026 in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home with Pastor David Fenley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Maddox Memorial Home.
