Mr. Matthew "Matt" Wilson Leathers, age 71, of Winder, peacefully entered into eternal rest at The Pines Senior Living. 

Mr. Leathers grew up in Sylvania, OH, where he graduated high school. After graduation, he attended Bowling Green State University, where he received a Bachelor's degree. Matt loved to travel where he met people all over the world. He loved music, gardening, and woodworking. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball. Mr. Leathers was employed by Andersons in Toledo, OH, then worked at Wolf Craft, and then retiring from Home Depot. 

Mr. Leathers is preceded in death by his parents, Noel Leathers and Mary Schaetzke; stepfather, Howard Schaetzke; brother, Douglas Leathers; and brother-in-law, Harold Stevens.

Mr. Matt survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jackie Leathers; daughters, Whitney (Gary Whitley) Leathers, Jenny (Scott) Bratcher, Carrie (Jonathan) Kennard; sons, Kyle Leathers, Jon Vennie, and Ricky Vennie; sisters, Shelley (Johnnie) Austin, Karen Stevens, Stacie (Jack) Burgess; brothers, Phillip (Cheryl) Leathers; grandchildren, Jordan Vennie, Rachel Vennie, Janna (James) Hanrahan, Kyleigh (Clay) Wheeler, Katelynn Bratcher, Lindsey Bratcher, Edwin Kennard, Brittany Whitley, and William (Paige) Whitley; great grandchildren, Mayla Hanrahan, Maylee Hanrahan, Whitley Wheeler, and Madden Whitley. 

The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 21, 2026, with Minister John Burchfield officiating. The burial for Mr. Leathers will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Maddox Memorial Home. 

Flowers will be accepted for services.
