Obituary

Mr. Robert "Bob" Lincoln Vogel III, age 62, of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Bob retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service with Local Union 72. His commitment to serving others extended well beyond his career. He proudly served the City of Auburn as a member of the City Council for 16 years, giving his time to the community he cared deeply about. He also served as President of the Auburn Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball Program, where he enjoyed supporting local youth and helping make a positive difference in the lives of young people and their families.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob loved staying active and enjoying the outdoors. Whether hiking, riding his bike, or heading out on an adventure in his Jeep. He was also a true coffee connoisseur and was known as a grill master who enjoyed preparing meals for those around him.

Bob was passionate about everything he put his mind to. When he believed in something, he gave it his full attention, energy, and heart. That passion was evident throughout his career, his years of community service, his hobbies, and most importantly, his family. Above all, Bob was a devoted family man and a loving “Papa.” His family held a special place in his heart, and he treasured the time spent with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Vogel, Jr. and Jacqueline McNaughton Vogel.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Grace Vogel of Auburn; daughters, Ashley Rose Vogel (Chad) Kersh of Jefferson and Jessica Ann Vogel (Douglas) Hawley of Abilene, KS; siblings, Linda Larimore of Carabelle, FL and Scott (Erin) Vogel of Live Oak, FL; and four grandchildren, Madilyn Rose Kersh, Brooks David Kersh, Riley Grace Hawley and Mason Michael Hawley; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Maddox Memorial Home.
