Mrs. Angelita “Angie” Lena Martinez, 69, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Angie was not just a mother; she was the best mom in the world, a true inspiration, and the heart of her family. She made everyone she met feel welcomed and like a cherished part of her family. Her life was a shining example of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion.

As a military wife and mother, Angie exemplified strength and commitment. She was awarded the Military Spouse Medal, a tribute to her years of extraordinary dedication to her family and the military community. A devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a doting great-grandmother, Angie was the heart and soul of her family. She taught everyone around her the true meaning of unconditional love.

Angie’s kind and generous spirit shone brightest in her devotion to her special needs daughter and the special needs community. She poured her heart into ensuring her daughter’s life was filled with love, opportunity, and happiness. Her commitment to advocating for and supporting individuals with special needs was a profound part of her legacy, one that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Angie was a vibrant force in every circle she touched. She was a proud member of T.O.P.S. and the Red Hatters Society. Angie embraced life with enthusiasm, always bringing joy and laughter to those around her. 

A member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, Angie’s faith was the foundation of her boundless generosity and kindness. Above all, she cherished her family deeply. She adored her siblings, creating bonds filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. She often spoke of the joy they brought her, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with them in heaven, where they are surely embracing her with open arms.

Angie lived her life to the fullest, filling it with laughter, kindness, and memories that will forever be cherished. She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful testament to the power of a big, kind heart and an unstoppable spirit. To know Angie was to be blessed by her extraordinary love, which will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her. 

Mrs. Martinez was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Ann C. Bernal, and siblings, John Bernal, Carlos Bernal, and Eddie Bernal, Jr.

Mrs. Martinez is survived by her loving husband of forty years, Ruben C. Martinez of Winder; children, Stephanie (James) Dent of Winder, Robert M. Sanchez of Defiance, OH, Lena Martinez of Winder, and Sarah Hanson (Justin Huckaby) of Winder; siblings, Marta Rodriguez of FL, Gilbert Bernal of TX, Jesse Bernal of OH, Henry Bernal of OH, Connie Peare of GA, and Christopher Bernal of GA; seven grandchildren, Mia (Fred) Jeffcoat, Tre Dent, Kiari Dent (Samson Johnson), Alyssa Sanchez (David Thome), Robert Sanchez III (Cambriah Thatcher), Christopher Sanchez (Lexi Resendez), and Amelia Delgado; and six great-grandchildren, Baylee, Ariella, Jace, Zaden, Saint, and Sire. 

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Maddox-Carter Memorial Home. The family will be receiving friends on Friday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the service at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home. A private burial will be held at The Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. 

Flowers are accepted for the memorial service.
