Mrs. Annette Blalock Greeson

1941 — 2025

Danielsville

Mrs. Annette Blalock Greeson, age 84, of Danielsville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at her residence.

Annette Blalock was born in Walton County on April 6, 1941. She was the daughter of Henry Monroe Blalock and Kate Gilstrap Blalock. Annette was the 6th of nine children in her family. She stirred the imagination of her children and grandchild with stories of growing up in a 3-room shotgun house with all her siblings --- and having to share a bed with 4 sisters.

Academically, Annette was very studious and made excellent grades, especially in math. As a teenager, she worked at a movie theater, where a young man named Bee Greeson caught her eye. She told one of his friends that she liked him. It’s ironic that they met at the theater because their romance was worthy of any movie. On Wednesday, September 11, 1957, Bee and Annette eloped and were married by a female Justice of the Peace in Walhalla, South Carolina. Until Bee was transferred with the National Guard to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Annette worked in accounts payable for Bestwall Certain-teed in Atlanta, GA. After Bee completed his duty at Fort Sill, Annette worked as a bookkeeper for Walton Clothes.

On November 20, 1964, Bee and Annette welcomed their first child, Royce Bee Greeson, Jr. When Royce, Jr. was about 6 months old, Annette realized that he could not hear, and as a loving and devoted mother, she drove long distances each day taking a very young Royce to the Atlanta Speech School. In January 1969, the Greeson family welcomed a daughter, who was named Jane, after Annette’s paternal grandmother.

In 1975, Bee and Annette bought a chicken farm in Carnesville, GA. Three years later, they purchased property in Gainesville, GA, where they spent the next 15 years in the poultry industry. In the mid ‘90’s, they purchased the land of their dreams in Danielsville, GA, where they lived with Royce and had multiple horses, cows, and dogs. Annette Greeson was a private person, who prized the simple things of life – such as sitting outside in the breeze and looking out at their beautiful pasture.

She was also a very proud “Meemaw” to her only granddaughter, Hannah Lynne Nugent. Hannah loved her Meemaw, as much as her Meemaw loved her. Whenever it was time to go home after spending the night with her grandparents, Hannah, with tears streaming down her face, would hold out her arms and call out for her Meemaw. Annette Blalock Greeson also loved her extended family dearly. But most of all, she loved her soulmate and husband of 67 years.

A service of remembrance for Annette Blalock Greeson will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Nazareth United Methodist Church in Winder, GA. Burial was in the Nazareth United Methodist Church Cemetery.
