Mrs. Betty Carlyle

Mrs. Betty Carlyle, age 77 of Hoschton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton Campus.

Mrs. Carlyle enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved her church family and being a pastor’s wife. She was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church in Hoschton. 

Mrs. Carlyle was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rev. Gary Carlyle; daughter and son-in-law, Carla Carlyle (Shannon) Shaw and one grandson, Whittney Stovall; parents Dallas Eugene McDougald and Marian Brock McDougald; sister and brother-in-law Sandra (Paul) Nix; two brothers Alan McDougald and Micheal McDougald. 

She is survived by her children Sheila (Gilford) Stovall and Joyce Watkins; four grandchildren, Bonna and Jessica McElhannon, Jonathon Stovall and Damon Shaw, and nine great-grandchildren; Malia Cox, Kylee Gable, Jayden Maatje, Lucas Gable, Bryce Stovall, Sydney Stovall, Teaghan Cox, Kobe Thompson and Michael Henderson. 

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Mulberry Baptist Church in Hoschton with Rev. Carl Helton and Rev. Calvin Gooch officiating. Mrs. Carlyle will Lie in State from 10 :00 AM until the service hour at Mulberry Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery with Rev. Everest Carlisle conducting the committal service. 

The family will be receiving friends on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home, Winder. 

Flowers are accepted for the funeral service.
