Mrs. Cynthia Owens Groves

Mrs. Cynthia Owens Groves, age 74, of Winder, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Mrs. Groves was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Jean Smith and father, JC Owens.

She is survived by husband, Larry Groves of Winder, GA; daughters Shauna Sweat (GA) & Meredith Palmer (AR); grandchildren Andrew Coble (CO), Sarah Moore (AL), Peyton Sweat (PA), Garrett Sweat (GA), Alyssa Coble (AR), Anna Palmer (GA); great-grandchildren Jay Coble and Owen Moore.

Cyndi was born on Galveston Island TX but spent the majority of her childhood in Yosemite National Park. She was a graduate of Ball High, class of 1969. Larry and Cyndi met at Ball High School and married in 1970. Cyndi had a distinguished career as an Administrative Assistant to many prominent physicians at UTMB, Shriner’s of Galveston, Tucker Eye Group & Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. She loved all of her doctors and their patients.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 12, 2026 in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home with Pastor Ken Reed officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 1:00 PM until the service hour at Maddox Memorial Home. 

The family would like to thank Gerri Hursky for her personal care, love and support in the care of our loved one. As well, we would like to thank the staff at Agape Hospice, specifically Yvonne and Tae.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
