Mrs. Grace Whitworth Ragland, age 93, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Grace graduated as valedictorian from Townville High School and subsequently established herself as a dedicated homemaker and respected member of her community. She was a faithful and devout member of Winder First United Methodist Church, where she lovingly led the nursery for over forty years. Through her gentle spirit and steadfast kindness, Grace impacted multiple generations, nurturing the children of her church family and embodying the true meaning of grace and compassion.
Grace was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 67 years, Dr. Clyde P. Ragland Sr. and daughter Karen Ragland Munday; her parents, T.A. Whitworth Sr. and Lizzy Whitworth. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Harold Whitworth, T.A. Whitworth Jr., Everett Whitworth, and Margaret Schneider.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. David E. Ragland (Johanna) of Winder, Dr. C.P. “Scott” Ragland (Rebecca) of St. Louis; her grandchildren and their spouses: Dr. Brittni and Luke Kelley of Winder, Dr. Cameron and Heather Ragland of Gainesville, Wesley Ragland and Metal Priestess of St. Louis, and Owen Ragland of St. Louis; and great grandchildren Sage Ragland and Lilly Ragland.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, July 8, at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Maddox-Carter Memorial Home with Reverend Dave Hinson officiating. Burial will follow at Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
Maddox-Carter Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
