Mrs. Jean Muir Brown, age 91, of Monroe, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at The Retreat at Loganville. She was born on May 2, 1934, in Catrine, Scotland.
She will be remembered best as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jean was known for her great humor, which endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her legacy will forever be cherished by her family, including her loving children: Margaret Cochrane (David Maxey) of Monroe, Muir Brown of New York, and Hugh (Tisha) Brown of Texas; her sisters, Janet Stuart of California and Margaret Calder of New York. Jean took great pride in her grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy: Jean Marie (Matt) Reinhart, Michael (Chelsey) Cochrane, Madison (John) Lisenby, Landon Brown, Gabrielle Saffa, and Alex Saffa. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Nathan Granados, Allison Reinhart, and Charley Cochrane.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Park Brown, who was her partner in life; her son, Thomas Brown; parents, Robert McCluckie and Olive McCluckie, her siblings Mary Brown, and Burt McCluckie; and her grandson, Richard Cochrane.
Per the request of the family, a formal service will not be held. Mrs. Brown will be laid to rest at a later date in New York.
Maddox-Carter Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
