Mrs. Johnnie Lou Deaton, age 90, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

As the steady heartbeat of her family, Johnnie Lou poured boundless love, patience, and warmth into her role as a homemaker. She created a home where everyone felt welcomed, creating a lifetime of beautiful memories for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Winder Wesleyan Church.

Beneath her gentle nature was a wonderfully spunky soul who brought infectious energy and laughter into every room. She possessed a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and a sense of determination that kept everyone on their toes.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Joe Deaton; her parents, Bud and Annie Lou Austin Lord; and her sister, Carolyn Allen.

Mrs. Deaton is survived by her children; Susan (Barry) Shuler of Blairsville, Jennifer (Don) Canupp of Gainesville, and Dan (Sue) Deaton of Winder; sister, Mary Ann Cronic of Winder; her grandchildren, Nathan Shuler, John Langford, Quentin Deaton, and Allyson Deaton; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home with Minister John Burchfield officiating. Burial will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Flowers are accepted for the funeral service of Mrs. Deaton.
