Mrs. Sarah “Ann” Price Metcalf

Mrs. Sarah “Ann” Price Metcalf, age 65, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

For nearly four decades, she served the children of Barrow County with the county head start program, Easter Seals, as a classroom assistant teacher followed by her favorite role as a nutrition tech. She served in the cafeteria creating delicious meals for the children and her coworkers. Ann loved taking care of everybody. She always put others before herself. Ann will be remembered best as a mom to all and stranger to none. 

Mrs. Metcalf was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Leon Hooten and second husband, Ricky Metcalf; parents, Will "Pop" Price and Sarah Bentley Price; and siblings, Shorty Johnson and David Johnson. 

Ann is survived by her devoted children, Sammy (Kelli) Hooten of Winder, Charles Hooten of Winder, Mary Ann Smith of Winder, Scottie Hooten of Winder, and Cindy (Derick) Davis of Talmo; siblings, Sammy Bertling of Madison, AL, Gloria Hylton of Winder, Faye Smallwood of Loganville, Jimmy Price of Bethlehem, and Mary Arwood of Loganville; eight grandchildren, Kelsi Smith, Kenzi Hooten, Kevin Smith, Noah Hooten, Anslee Davis, Brayden Hooten, Brody Hooten, and Mia Hooten; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a special niece, Kathy (Chad) Freeman of Winder.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 16, 2026 in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home with Pastor Chad Freeman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Maddox Memorial Home.
