Mrs. Shelby Jean Cooper, a resident of Winder, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her hometown on June 26, 2026, at the age of 87.
She was the beloved daughter of the late John Ludwig Greeson and Mary Katherine Craft Greeson. Raised with strong values, she carried forward her family’s legacy with grace and humility throughout her life. Known as "Mama Jean" she was a selfless and looked after everyone. After church every Sunday, she would cook for her family.
Her legacy is best reflected in her devoted family, who celebrate her memory and the profound impact she had on their lives. She is survived by three loving children: her daughter, Sheilah Barnett and son-in-law Lee; her son, Ronnie Cooper and daughter-in-law Jeanann; and her daughter, Rhonda Page and son-in-law Bruce. Shelby’s love extended to her dear sister, Gail Thompson, and brother-in-law Johnny, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and sibling affection.
As a cherished grandmother, She watched with pride and joy as her grandchildren grew into adulthood. Her grandchildren, Shannon Faulkner, Ashley Faulker, Jared Barnett, Courtney Rogers, Corey Leach, Jacob Page, Corbin Cooper, and Sam Ferguson, remember her for her nurturing spirit, gentle encouragement, and ever-present warmth. The extended family also includes Kathryn, Jay, Gabe, and Emily—spouses who became part of her circle of love and kindness.
Her life was one of dedication: to her faith, her community, and above all, her family. Her thoughtful presence brought comfort and support to those around her, and her guidance shaped the values and character of generations to come.
A visitation for Mrs. Shelby Jean Cooper will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Statham on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service honoring her life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
