Mrs. Shelby Crowe Stancil, age 86, of Braselton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at her residence.
Shelby was a faithful member of Hoschton Church of God of Prophecy, where her faith and love for the Lord were an important part of her life. She had a generous spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
For 27 years, Shelby served as a school bus driver for the Jackson County School System. Throughout those years, she became a familiar and trusted face to generations of students. Shelby also worked alongside her husband at Larry's Garage and Wrecker Service, where they shared not only a business, but a life built upon hard work and dedication to Jackson County.
Above all, Shelby's greatest joy was her family. She treasured the time spent with those she loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Carlton Stancil; parents, Waymon and Velma Grant Crowe; and siblings, Manning, Gerald, Bruce, and Levoy Crowe.
Mrs. Stancil is survived by her children, Chuck (Donna) Caldwell of Jefferson, Tammy (Larry) Sweat of Braselton, and Larry Paul Stancil of Jefferson; siblings, Kaye Simmons of Jefferson and Dale Crowe of Winder; five grandchildren, Kari (Zack) Mathis, Taylor (Jacob) Oertly, Sarah (Hunter) Cannon, Destiny (Wyatt) Timms, and Chelsea Rae Stancil; and six great-grandchildren, Emma Jade Mathis, Liam McClane Mathis, Braxton Worley, Breydon Sweat, Charleigh Jo Sweat, and Stetson Timms.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 in the Chapel of Maddox Memorial Home with Bishop Jerry Gaddis officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hoschton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 17, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Maddox Memorial Home.
Flowers are accepted or donations can be made to the Hospice of Northeast Georgia for the loving care that was provided to Mrs. Shelby.
Maddox Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
