Mrs. Wilberta (Kornegay) Fulcher, 93, of White Mills, KY went home to Jesus on April 1, 2026.
Wilberta, known as “Bertie” by friends and family, was born to Herbert & Jessie Kornegay on October 21, 1932 in Nocatee, FL. She lived in Florida until she enrolled at Atlanta Christian College after graduating high school. It was there that she met and married Carlton R. Fulcher on November 15, 1952. She and Carlton were married 44 years at the time of his passing on July 3, 1997. They had two sons, Stephen and Benjamin.
Bertie is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Debra) of Statham, GA and Benjamin (Kelly) of White Mills, KY; her grandchildren, Shannon Fulcher, Penny (Steven) Sammons, Brooke (Jameson) Howe, and Luke Fulcher; her great grandsons, Daniel Fulcher and Tyler Fulcher; her brother, David Kornegay; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Fulcher; her brother, James Kornegay, and her sister, Viola Kornegay Click.
Bertie was active in her local church including Midway Christian Church in Winder, GA where she taught Sunday school, wrote for the church newsletter, taught VBS, and sang in the choir. She was also involved with North Georgia Christian Service Camp. In 2014 she moved to White Mills, KY where she served at the White Mills Christian Church and White Mills Christian Camp. While living in Georgia, Bertie traveled extensively through her husband’s tour bus company and had visited almost every state. Bertie loved nature, especially flowers, and grew many on her porch and in her yard. She loved to read and filled her bookshelves with good books that she freely lent to others. She sent cards and paid visits to many people in the church in order to encourage them. She also loved playing dominoes with her close friends. Always, her life was centered around her relationship with Jesus, attending church, and serving there in whatever ways she could.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Midway Christian Church with Rev. John Burchfield officiating. Burial will follow the service at Midway Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the service hour at Midway Christian Church.
