Ms. Sheila Evans Smith

Ms. Sheila Evans Smith, age 77, of Winder, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. 

Sheila was a member of Carl Baptist Church where she enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir. She retired as a devoted neonatal nurse at Barrow Regional Medical Center. Sheila loved spending her time gardening and planting flowers. 

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Newton Evans and Fairy Putnam Evans.

She is survived by her children, LaRee Gomez of Winder and Wayland Roger Smith, Jr.  of MS; brother, James (Pat) Evans of TN; three grandchildren, Alex Gomez of Winder, Blake Smith, and Jaxon Smith both of MS; three great-grandchildren; and niece, Michelle Miller Smith of MS.

Per the request of the family, a memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Maddox-Carter Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
