With heavy hearts, we celebrate the heroic life of Daniel Lee Evans, 50, of Winder, Georgia, who entered his heavenly home on July 24, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin Crider, Joy Jaulice Holsenback, Dee Evans Sr., and Mary Francis Evans; and his father-in-law, Michael Gifford.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Danielle Evans; his parents, Dee and Teresa Evans; his mother-in-law, Debra Gifford; his children, Blaine Evans (Anna), DeAnna Evans, and Makenzie "Kenzie" Jones (Sam); his sister, Amanda Henson (Josh); his uncle, David "Big Dave" Culpepper; his beloved grandchildren, Ella Kate Evans and Justin Evans; and his niece, Olivia Sayegh.

Daniel will be remembered as a true friend, a devoted husband, father, son, and loving Pawpaw, as well as a faithful police sergeant who was deeply loved and respected by so many. His memory will forever be cherished.

His greatest joy and deepest pride were found in spending time with his grandchildren. Whether playing with them, making them laugh, or simply being together, they brought immeasurable happiness to his life.

Daniel was a devoted servant whose dedication, courage, and kindness earned the respect of everyone who knew him. From his local community to his service abroad, he dedicated his life to protecting and serving others with honor and great pride. He proudly served one tour in Afghanistan as an Embedded Police Mentor.

At the time of his passing, Daniel had faithfully served the City of Winder Police Department for 24 years. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2021 and devoted his career to protecting the citizens of Winder. He loved his community, and his community loved him in return. His fellow officers and coworkers remember him as "a dedicated public servant who made a lasting impact on the community."

Outside of his career, Daniel was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter, and gifted craftsman. He found peace on the water, in the woods, and in his workshop, where he enjoyed creating woodworking projects with remarkable skill, patience, and pride. He also loved traveling with his wife and making lasting memories with his family.

Daniel taught his children from an early age to appreciate the outdoors, sharing with them his love of hunting and fishing. He especially treasured hunting and fishing alongside his father, his children, and his friends. In recent years, one of his favorite family traditions was their annual summer fishing trip to Panama City, where they spent long days deep-sea fishing together.

More than catching fish, Daniel found joy in teaching his children his favorite techniques, helping them rig their fishing poles, and passing down a lifelong love of the sport.

Though he will be deeply missed, Daniel's legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, family, friends, fellow officers, and the countless lives he touched throughout his years of faithful service.

The funeral service to honor the life of Sgt. Daniel Evans will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Bethlehem Church with Pastor Jimmy Evans officiating. Special remarks will be shared by Chief Jim Fullington, his son Blaine Evans, his daughters DeAnna Evans and Kenzie Jones, his brother Jeff Jerome, and his wife, Danielle Evans. Following the service, Daniel will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Maddox Memorial Home.
