Stanley D. Wilson of Winder, Georgia died February 15, 2021 of complications related to the COVID-19 Virus at the age 0f 70. He was born May 16, 1950 in Rome, Georgia to the late George M. and Mattie Thornton Wilson. Stan served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was able to fulfill a lifetime goal of becoming a Deputy Sheriff with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, retiring in January 2021.
Stan lived life to the fullest. He was loved by many, especially his three daughters he raised on his own, after their Mother’s passing. His passion was to play music, and he was blessed to have played and sung with many good musicians/singers through the years. In recent years he was known as “Stan The Man” with the Highway 211 Band. He had a large group of friends/fans that includes the Gwinnett Shriners, and was proud to have such friends.
Most of all Stan loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by five siblings, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.
Surviving are Daughters and Sons-in-law, Teresa and Scottie Hargrove, Stephanie and Catfish Manders, Amanda and Brian Baker, Grandchildren, Caleb and Destiny Hargrove, Nathan and Faith Hargrove, Amber Ellis, Makinzie (Damen) Harrison, Aiden Manders, Devan Berrey, Annslee Berrey, Colin Baker, Emma Baker and Kiyla Hernandez, Great Grandchildren, Kainen Hargrove, Karsyn Hargrove and Emberlee Harrison, Brother and Sister-in-law, Tony and Sherry Wilson, Brother, Fred Madden, Sister, Sarah Esteva and many Nieces and Nephews.
The Family will receive friends Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 11:00 A. M. until 1:00 P. M. at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 1:00 P. M. from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Chaplain Al Booker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gwinnett Shriner’s Club.
