Mrs. Sue Hendrix Burel, age 95, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, at Gateway Gardens Assisted Living.
Mrs. Burel was born on January 13, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia as the second daughter of the late Moses Edward Hendrix and Beulah Marr Hendrix. Sue lived most of her life in Auburn, Georgia and was married to the love of her life, R.H. Burel, for fifty-two years. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was a successful realtor in Barrow County for many decades. Sue was a devoted member of Carl Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Burel was preceded in death by her sister, Lorena Hendrix Holston and brother, Carey Hendrix.
Mrs. Burel is survived by her daughter, Wanda B. (David) Hawthorne; sons, Robert E. Burel and Michael M. (Michael) Burel; granddaughter by love, Jamie (David) Bradley; granddaughter, Alana Doster (Derrick) Sparks; great-grandchildren, Kyle Curott, Kendall Sparks, and Sydni Sparks; great-great-grandchild, Sunnie Sparks; along with a host of extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Sue Burel will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Carl Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Hamm officiating. Burial will follow the service at Auburn City Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, September 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home.
